The 2nd of two films I produced for the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, there is a large community of migrant workers who travel in from other states in order to find work during the tourist season when agricultural work is sparse. With no valid id or formal education, these men often find themselves rickshaw pulling - one of the most dis-respected and neglected trades in society. Poor living conditions and very low income often leads these men into risky behaviour involving drug abuse and unsafe sex. With no guidance available, young men find themselves infected with HIV and have no idea where to go for help.
The Dove Foundation is a charity that targets these young rickshaw pullers and gives them education, a support network and links them with government facilities where they can get treatment. Their project, 'Aramabh', was awarded a grant last year from the MTV Staying Alive Foundation - here, we meet the founders, Abhinav & Mohita, along with Pawaan and Manish - two young men they have already helped.
